The main problem within the film was to make the
supernatural seem believable
How to make us believe – this is where an ‘expert’ is
brought in
-
A sceptic who we identify with (normality)
-
As the sceptic believes we start to as well
Or another way is a case study of a girl which had similar
experiences.
How is the suspense believed, well elements of normality are
in the film throughout, of what people would just do in their normal lives.
The amateur nature of the filming makes it believable as we
could do it, so we establish it as reality.
Suspense within the film
-
Handheld camera show realism and puts you in
their place
-
With the camera show us them sleeping and what
happens, its shows vunrability.
No ‘non-diegetic’ sound, simple noises within the film
became scary
Expert won’t stay made the tension rise
Narrative Structure
-
Building Climax
-
Waiting for Demon to STRIKE
