Thoughts and Ideas
Well as the film will not be well know,
and would only be short, then major distribution companies will not distribute
it as of the return money will not be what they expect. However, what we have
been learning about in class is a film of the name of ‘Shifty’. This was made
under the Microwave Scheme, by the UK Film Council at a budget of £100,000, with
a time of 18 days to complete it. The company that distributed this film was Metrodome,
which is a small distribution company. As it will not be a big film, the cinema
audience will not be spectacular, therefore it would be better to sell it on
DVD while advertising it though social networking sites and yourtube as
that is a free form of advertising.
What not to do
For major films like The Dark Knight,
Hunger Games, Harry Potter, these all involve major production and studio
companies as well as distribution companies. Some examples of these are; Warner
Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Universal and Columbia.
These would input millions of £/$ into marking films and distributing, but
these would all be done on their own terms and in how and what way they would
like to do this. Unlike Metrodome, who
cooperates with you and accepts your ideas and inputs with the marketing and
distributing, it shows how the same business but at different levels operate
are like.
